The year is winding down as we’ve reached the middle part of December. That means it is time to unveil the list of Best Singles of the year, as ranked by me of course. When I starting putting together this list, I realized that 1) there are several artists who appear twice this year and 2) that female artists have been the most creative, authentic, and truly country artists this year. On Tuesday country music newcomers Florida Georgia Line and Sheryl Crow will announce the nominees for the 47th annual CMA Awards live on Good Morning America. Keeping with ATC tradition, and my love for all things awards shows, I will be attempting to predict which artists will land nominations this year.
A couple weeks ago I gave my predictions as to who the nominees in the artists categories would be for this year’s CMA Awards. Since we now know that Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum will reveal the nominees live on Good Morning America on September 5th, I’m rounding out the predictions with some of the remaining categories. After scoring two number ones and a top five with the first three singles off Own the Night, Lady Antebellum is hoping to strike gold once again with the fourth single. They debuted the single on last night’s finale of The Voice and now it’s on its way to country radio. How does “Wanted You More” measure up to the group’s previous singles?
Country music has a new trio that has enough potential to give Lady Antebellum a run for its money. This new group goes by the name The Farm. Comprised of three veterans in the music industry, this group has already taken the country charts by storm with its debut single, “Home Sweet Home.” But what impresses me most about this talented trio is its onstage presence which is why I’ve dubbed them, the new entertainers.
The 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards is finally here! The annual awards show will take place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this Sunday night on CBS. The show will once again be hosted by Reba and Blake Shelton and will feature over-the-top performance from some of the genre’s biggest superstars. However, the entire night will revolve around the multiple trophy presentations that will take place. As with every other awards show, I will offer my predictions for the night’s big winners!
