If you’ve gotten the opportunity to look back at the number of posts made in 2012 and 2013, you would see that there haven’t been many. My life has become extremely busy with juggling work and school as well as getting the opportunity to complete an internship at the local CBS Radio Station offices. To date, it is one of the best experiences of my life. Continue reading
Country Music’s Biggest Night is officially in the books as the lights go down on the 2013 CMA Awards. The night was filled with plenty of music from some of the genre’s biggest stars. The awards featured a few surprise winners and some familiar favorites. ATC is wrapping up the night and revealing how my predictions went. Continue reading
My favorite day of the year has finally arrived! Tonight all eyes will be on Nashville as the 47th Annual CMA Awards will be held live from Bridgestone Arena. Hosted for the sixth time by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, the night promises to be filled with plenty of glitz and glamour as country music’s biggest superstars take the stage. Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Kacey Musgraves, Carrie Underwood, and many, many, more are performing during the telecast as well as a special tribute to George Jones by George Strait and Alan Jackson. Of course the night will also honor the “best” of country music this past year. Coming into the night Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves are tied for the most nominations with six apiece. Here are my official predictions for who will walk away big winners tonight.
Since bursting on the scene with immense critical acclaim, country cutie Kacey Musgraves has become one of the most authentic artists in today’s country music. Her debut single “Merry Go ‘Round” was included on countless lists of best singles of 2012 and she’ll no doubt be appearing on Best of 2013 lists with the follow-up single, “Blowin’ Smoke.” However, it’s the singer’s latest single that has everyone talking. Today I awoke thinking about time that has passed. I took a moment to reflect on incidents and changes that have happened in my life in recent years. As I thought about everything that has happened, I remembered one thing was always a constant…my love and passion for country music. It was then that I realized that I have been blogging about country music for nearly four years! It is a bit crazy to think that what started as an innocent hobby would be the one constant in my life (well, other than family and friends of course). I then began to think about how I’ve been neglecting my site for the greater part of this year. Well folks, that’s about to change.
It is time to get back to what I love…writing about country music. So it is time to change things here at ATC. Don’t worry though, I’m not changing anything content related. That means that all of you country music enthusiasts out there can still come here to read about what I think of the latest singles or albums from today’s superstars and rising newcomers. You are still encouraged to come voice your own opinions as well; after all, a little debating can be healthy. By saying there will be change I am simply saying All Things Country will now be filled with more insight into the genre as a whole and will be updated multiple times a week. Look for more single and album reviews as well as more “Me and Country Music” features and a few surprises thrown in for kicks. I am excited to say that I am already beginning work on my year-end lists for top albums, singles, and artists of the year 2013. So, if you guys have any suggestions, please feel free to share! Also I am gearing up for my favorite week of the year…CMA Awards week! Look for features to be posted about the nominees as well as my official predictions for the night’s winners.
Simply writing about all the changes and articles I am working on is relighting the fire within. I want to thank all of you for sticking with me these past four years and I hope you’ll stick with me for the future.
The nominees have been revealed for the 47th Annual CMA Awards and to my surprise two women lead the pack with six nominations each. Meanwhile a living legend sneaks into one of the night’s biggest categories while two CMA stalwarts were left off the list entirely. ATC is here to sort out the snubs and flubs and compare the categories to our predictions we made earlier this week. Continue reading
On Tuesday country music newcomers Florida Georgia Line and Sheryl Crow will announce the nominees for the 47th annual CMA Awards live on Good Morning America. Keeping with ATC tradition, and my love for all things awards shows, I will be attempting to predict which artists will land nominations this year.
