2010 Grammy Awards Wrap-Up

This year’s Grammy awards stuck to the status quo of 2009 and made Taylor Swift the night’s big winner by awarding her sophomore album, Fearless, the overall Album of the Year award. Along with the big win, Swift scored three other awards by sweeping the Country categories she was nominated in (Best Country Song, Best Country Album, and Best Female Country Vocal Performance).

Besides Taylor, country was well represented in the big show. The Zac Brown Band became the second country artist to claim the Best New Artist award in the last 4 years (Carrie Underwood won in 2007) and also performed on the show. Other country performers included Swift, Lady Antebellum (who picked up their first win in the Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group category with their hit “I Run to You”), and Carrie Underwood who was featured in the Michael Jackson tribute. Jennifer Nettles also made a quick cameo during Bon Jovi’s performance to sing their hit “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” while Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert were among the night’s presenters.

In the other country categories, Keith Urban won his third Grammy in the Best Male Country Vocal Performance for his hit “Sweet Thing.” Carrie Underwood added a fifth Grammy to her mantle by claiming the Best Country Collaboration with Vocals award with her duet version of the Randy Travis hit “I Told You So” and also extended her run to 4 straight years she’s walked away with a golden Grammy.

I’ll share more in depth thoughts on the night in another post tomorrow and reveal my highlights and lowlights of the show.
